Waterloo-Wellington’s Community Haul was created to shine a light on and support all things local and we let this ethos drive every decision. Together, every month, we are setting out to make a difference in our communities. From our local vendors, suppliers and our three cause partners per box - we are on a mission to give back and we hope you join us!
We’ve launched a local subscription box designed to celebrate and promote Waterloo, Wellington and surrounding area businesses. We are fighting for local and building a better future for small businesses and vendors in our community.
Every box sold will help our three cause partners: Grand River Hospital Foundation, Cambridge Memorial Hospital Foundation and St. Mary’s General Hospital Foundation.
Director Waterloo-Wellington Community Haul
It takes a community to raise a child, and it takes a community to produce an Olympic athlete. I can tell you without reservation that I would not have reached the height I did without the assistance and support of our community. In sport, like business, your career is filled with ups and downs. The unwavering support I received allowed me to concentrate on my training to be the best boxer I could be. This allowed me to become an 11X Canadian Champion, a 2X Pan Am Games Gold Medalist, and a 2X Olympian. I don’t look at a medal or belt without thinking of the people who helped make it possible. Now that my boxing career is coming to an end I want to do what I can to give back to the community that made me a champion in my sport. This is why I am thrilled to launch Waterloo- Wellington Community Haul. We have an exciting year lined up and I can’t wait for you to join me in the fight for local!
Board Director Waterloo-Wellington Community Haul
Hi, I’m Syd Vanderpool and I was born and raised in Kitchener Waterloo. Throughout my 13 year professional boxing career I boxed in Atlantic City, Caesars Palace Las Vegas, and all over the world, but I always called Kitchener my home. It still brings me chills to watch old fights and here the announcer say, and the #1 ranked Super Middleweight in the World hailing from Kitchener, Ontario Canada...Syd “The Jewel” Vanderpool. I developed an even greater pride for our community in 2003 when I graduated from the 12 month Leadership Waterloo Region program. We live in a great community and partnering with 2- time Olympian Mandy Bujold and Waterloo-Wellington Community Haul is a fun and easy way to give back and grow the community I love.
